I own a number of Voigtlander Brillants, they all shoot well even the the most basic models. The one I used here has the better Skopar lens and a compur shutter. You can pick these cameras up for under £15 often the slow speed on the shutter may be a little sticky, this is usually cured by a careful application of lighter fluid. the lenses are easy to dismantle and clean to.

They are great fun to use and the results are always pleasing.

Get Out Your Box!

One big advantage with the new photo scanners is they will take 120 roll films and sheet film.

I got my self a new scanner two weeks ago so I can now scan all the film formats I use, this is good news as I will use my TLR's and Box cameras more.

I took this shot last year with a Zeiss Ikon Box Tengor, this is the Rolls Royce of box cameras, its a joy to use. I have some 50asa 120 slide film I might run a roll through the Tengor and see what happens.

Horncastle Antique & Curiosity Shops. Leica IIIF 10/02/07

Another wander round the Antique & Curiosity shops of Horncastle. Last time I was using a 125asa film and a Leica IIC, this camera does not have a slow speed dial so the slowest shutter speed is 1/30. This time I was using a Leica IIIF which has the slow speed dial. A 400asa film helps to although all the indoor shots are at 1/4 second.

Edinburgh Rolleicord II. Agfa APX 100

Another outing with the Rolleicord, this time in Edinburgh and loaded with one of my last remaining rolls of Agfa APX 100. Agfa ceased production of B&W roll films a couple of years ago, A black day!! There is loads of 35mm APX on the go at the moment as low as £15 for 10X36 exp rolls and some bulk 100ft rolls.

So get your freezer filled up!!!!!!!

Horncastle Antique & Curiosity Shops. Leica IIC 21/01/07

If you like antique, curiosity and junk shops Horncastle is the place to go.

I took these shots on sunday with a Leica II. I was a little worried about being acused of shop lifting as I was carrying the Leica in my coat pocket. The leica is an antique it self. I was using Ilford FP4 which is not the best film to use for dimly lit indoor shots with the Leica IIC as this camera does not have a slow speed dial so the slowest shutter speed is 1/30, I did have a f2 lens which did help and the FP4 is pushed to 200ASA.

Skegness. As always when I photograph Skegness I use a fast grainy B&W film and develop it Agfa Rodinal 1:25 for lots of grain and high contrast.
